The Massey Ferguson 135 is one of the most recognised and beloved tractors in farming history. Produced from 1964 to 1975, the MF 135 earned its reputation for reliability, simplicity, and remarkable durability. For thousands of small and medium-sized farms around the world, it was the perfect all-round workhorse — and for many, it still is.

The MF 135 was designed as the successor to the successful MF 35. It was part of the new Massey Ferguson 100 Series, which modernised the company’s lineup for the evolving needs of farmers in the 1960s. The new model improved on its predecessor with better hydraulics, a stronger and more efficient engine range, and updated styling that looked modern for its time. Above all, it kept what farmers valued most: the simple and reliable Ferguson three-point hitch system.

Production of the MF 135 begins in the UK. The model is also assembled in the US and other countries over time to meet local demand.
The introduction of the optional Multipower transmission offers operators more flexibility and ease of use in the field. Deluxe versions become popular, featuring live PTO, improved hydraulics, and more comfortable operator stations.
Special versions are developed for niche uses, including narrow vineyard and orchard variants and industrial adaptations for light construction and municipal work.
Official production ends as newer models in the 200 Series take over, but the MF 135’s design continues to influence tractors for decades to come.

Thanks to its reputation for dependability, the MF 135 found a place on farms across the UK, Europe, North America, and beyond. It proved its worth in all kinds of tasks: ploughing fields, mowing hay, pulling trailers, and working in vineyards and orchards. Many examples still work daily, a testament to the model’s strong build and straightforward engineering.

Farmers trusted the MF 135 for several key reasons:
Today, the MF 135 is celebrated at vintage tractor shows and continues to be a favourite among collectors and restorers. Many owners keep their tractors working not only as a piece of history but as a practical, reliable machine that still earns its place on the farm.
